Bible verse of the day
Tony and Hilary Jopson are the
founders of Contrasting Horizons with the seed being sown in May 2003 when the property was put up for auction.
Tony and Hilary had only 10 days from seeing the notice until the auction was going to take place. During these 10 days Tony
and Hilary had many ideas how the premises might be used, and were convicted that it was right for them to make the purchase.
Due to the great location on Peverell Corner in Plymouth, there was a lot of interest during that auction but in the end the
Jopson’s were successful (as seen on BBC1’s ‘Homes Under the Hammer’). When asked why they decided
that they should purchase the property, Tony said “It fulfilled 3 areas that are important to us; Business, Community
and Church. Our accountancy firm could be located in the rear section, the Charity could run in the front shop area to enable
to the community to purchase fair trade products while meeting with other local people and the flat above the shop could supply
accommodation for Youth Workers from Hope
Baptist Church." Contrasting Horizons was opened on February 28th 2004 by Linda Gilroy MP.
